Jun 17, 1932 — May 31, 2026
William “Bill” G. Wolfe, 93, passed away at Sims Veterans’ Home at 3:35pm Sunday, May 31, 2026. We chose to delay his memorial so that more of the family could attend. We will honor him on August 1st at 10am at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home. If you knew Bill, please join us for his service.
Bill was born June 17, 1932 in Hornsby, IL. He grew up in nearby Litchfield. Bill was the youngest of five children. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Eva Wolfe, and his siblings, Byron Black, Evelyn Acuncius, Vernadean Maness and Alice Parrish. His wife, Dorine “Dee”, preceded him in death in February 2013.
After high school Bill moved to Florida where he worked for Amoco Oil Company out of Port Everglades, Ft Lauderdale, Florida. When Bill retired from Amoco, he and Dee settled in Ocala, Florida. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed deer hunting. Bill always had a dog by his side; King, Boo, Missy and Sophia to name just a few. He wore red socks just about every day of his life and drove a red truck.
Bill is survived by his children; Cindy (Fred Shutt), Kelly (Ashley), Linda (David Hise), Joseph Kee (Judy), and Lori (Patrick McCabe). He has 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Bill spent his final years living in Panama City at Clifford Chester Sims State Veterans’ Nursing Home. He liked talking about his truck driving years, especially delivering gas to Key West. Due to the size of their trucks they had to have a police escort.
Bill and Dee will be interred at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Monday, August 3rd at 10:30am.
