Elizabeth J McCollister

Elizabeth McCollister, of Jacksonville, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, at the age of 95. She leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, generosity, and unwavering optimism that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Born on October 4, 1930, in Huntington, West Virginia, Elizabeth was raised with strong family values that guided her throughout her life. She attended Chesapeake High School in Ohio before continuing her education at Marshall University.

Elizabeth had a gift for making people feel welcomed, loved, and appreciated. She was a truly positive force within her family and community—creative, compassionate, and someone who never had a negative word to say about anyone. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and encouraging nature made her a source of comfort and joy to everyone she met.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth embraced each new chapter with enthusiasm and purpose. She began her career as a successful realtor before pursuing her passion for flowers by opening her own flower shop in Jacksonville. Even after retiring, she remained active and enjoyed working at EverBank Stadium during Jacksonville Jaguars games. A devoted Jaguars fan, she loved cheering on her team and being part of the excitement on game days.

Giving back to others was one of Elizabeth's greatest joys. During her retirement, she dedicated countless hours to serving her community. As co-chair of the Frances Padgett Senior Citizen Ladies Club of Arlington, she helped organize charitable projects and community outreach efforts throughout the Jacksonville area. Her generous heart and desire to help others left a lasting impact on many lives.

Above all else, Elizabeth treasured her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend whose unconditional love was the foundation of her family. Her wisdom, grace, and gentle encouragement will be remembered and cherished for generations.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her beloved husband and her parents.

She is lovingly survived by her son, Michael Booth and his wife, Kathy; her daughter, Connie Helms and her husband, Frank; her granddaughter, Hilary Booth; her great-grandchildren, Alexis Olsen, Paige Olsen, and Zachary Olsen; her brother, Jack Fry and his wife, Jean; her nephew, Joe Fry and his wife, Daina; as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends across the country.

Elizabeth's life was a beautiful example of kindness in action. She believed in lifting others up, giving generously, and finding joy in everyday moments. Though her family and friends will miss her deeply, they find comfort knowing her love will remain with them always.

Her memory will forever be a blessing, and her legacy of compassion, grace, and love will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing her.
