Kenneth Ray Sizemore
August 26, 1935 — May 4, 2026
Kenneth Ray Sizemore, known affectionately to many as Ken, passed away on May 4, 2026, at St. Joseph Hospital North. Born on August 26, 1935, in Pampa, Texas, Ken’s life was marked by service, dedication, and unwavering faith.
Ken served his country with honor and distinction for over two decades in the United States Army. His military career was distinguished by two tours in Vietnam and an earlier tour during the Korean War. Throughout his service, he earned numerous medals in recognition of his commitment and valor. During his service in the Army, Ken, along with his wife Josephine and their two children, lived in several countries, embracing diverse cultures and experiences.
In 1974, the Sizemore family settled in Ocala, where Ken and Josephine opened the Mandarin House Restaurant. This venture not only allowed them to share their love of good food but also gave them the opportunity to forge many long-lasting friendships within the community.
Ken was a man of genuine character, grounded in a strong and sincere faith in his Savior, Jesus Christ. His love and adoration for his wife Josephine were evident to all who knew them. He was a devoted and loving father, deeply proud of his children and grandchildren. His honesty and integrity were hallmarks of his personality—those who crossed his path knew exactly where they stood with Ken. He was truly a man of his word.
One cherished family memory that beautifully captures Ken’s personable nature is how he met Josephine. While on military leave in Bangkok, he noticed her in her family’s jewelry store window and confided to his army buddy, “That is the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.” That moment marked the beginning of their courtship, which blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with love and mutual respect.
Ken’s pastimes included reading, playing golf, and enjoying celebratory Asian meals shared with family and friends—activities that brought him joy and further strengthened his relationships.
Among Ken’s proudest accomplishments was the family he and Josephine lovingly built. He treasured his role as husband, father, and grandfather, and he was passionate about sharing his faith with all whom he met.
Ken's wife Josephine, passed away in 2025. He is survived by his daughter Jenny Stentiford and her husband Paul; his son Ken Sizemore Jr and his wife Celeste; and his beloved grandchildren Miles McLeod, Ashton McLeod, Ava Layne, Noelle Sizemore, and Elina Sizemore.
Ken’s passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. His legacy of love, faith, and unwavering devotion will continue to inspire those he cherished. As we remember Kenneth Ray Sizemore, we honor a life lived with courage, kindness, and deep integrity.
A private graveside service will be held to honor Ken's life and legacy. In this tender time, the family kindly requests that the gathering remain intimate and reserved for close family members. They are deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers and support from all who knew and loved Ken.
