Nancy Jo Dupee
July 23, 1936 — October 7, 2023
Nancy Jo Dupee, 87, of The Villages, FL, passed away on October 7, 2023. She was born on July 23, 1936, in Gassaway, WV, to the late Everett and Pauline Mick. She married her love Walter Dupee in 1957 and made their home together in Wheaton, MD. Nancy was preceded in death by her loving husband and her siblings Wallace Mick, Dorothy (Dot) Barto, Betty Smailes, and Larry Mick.
Nancy was a loving mother to her son Jim Dupee and his wife Marie, and her daughter Pam (Cookie) Thorpe and her husband Mike. She adored her grandchildren Brian, Andrew (Ellen), Harlan, and Marissa, who will miss her deeply.
She attended Braxton County High School and later pursued her education at Charleston General School of Nursing in WV. Nancy had a fulfilling career as a Registered Nurse and worked as a night nurse at Leisure World in Silver Spring, MD. She was known for her faithful attendance of many athletic events at Wheaton High School where her husband taught physical education and coached various sports.
After her husband's retirement in 1998, they moved to The Villages, FL. Though she was initially reluctant, she grew to love it. She learned to play golf and described life there as “paradise,” wondering why anyone would ever want to leave.
Nancy was a dedicated member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she found solace and community. Nancy was known for her love of people, music (especially country, gospel, and Elvis Presley), and clipping coupons. When she wasn’t scoring a bargain, Nancy enjoyed collecting teddy bears, participating in coffee groups, and attending music events on the square in the Villages of FL. She found joy in these hobbies and shared her enthusiasm with those around her.
Nancy will be remembered for her kind and loving nature, her zest for life, and her unwavering faith. She leaves behind cherished memories and a legacy of warmth and compassion. May she rest in eternal peace.
A memorial service will be held on October 26, 2023, 11:00 a.m., at Trinity Lutheran Church, located at 17330 US-441, Summerfield, FL 34491. Nancy will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, located at 6502 S.W. 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513 at 1:30 p.m.
