Frances Allain

Frances Allain, 79, of Londonderry, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on May 16, 2026, in The Villages, Florida.

Fran was born in North Andover, Massachusetts to John and Kathleen (Blunt) Ranfone on February 17, 1947. She attended North Andover High School and graduated from The University of New Hampshire with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Master of Arts in Counseling. She married Richard Allain of Dover, New Hampshire on April 7, 1969. She worked for Digital Equipment Corporation, Schaffer Mortgage, and The State of New Hampshire until her retirement in 2011.

After moving to The Villages in 2012, Fran enjoyed spending time golfing, playing cards, writing the neighborhood newsletter, and attending clubs. She valued the friendships she made throughout her life. Her favorite place for inspiration and solitude was Perkins Cove in Ogunquit, Maine. She was proud to have written and published her own book in 2018.

Fran’s greatest joy came from her family. She treasured the time together during holidays and vacations. She was a loving and devoted wife to Richard for 57 years. She cherished her children and was admired not only as a wonderful mother, but also as their loyal supporter and friend. As a loving Nana, she especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, attending their events, playing games, and making up stories.

Fran is survived by her husband, Richard Allain, of The Villages, Florida; daughter, Kelly (Allain) Murphy, and her husband, Sean, of Londonderry, New Hampshire; and daughter, Michelle (Allain) Tata, and her husband, Mark, of Bristol, Connecticut. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Caitlin and her husband Dan Roger, Sean Murphy, Nicole Gschwind, and Mark Tata; and two great-grandchildren, Melanie and Austin.

Fran is preceded in death by her parents John and Kathleen Ranfone, as well as her brother Anthony.

A grave-side service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026, at 11:30 a.m. in Pillsbury Cemetery in Londonderry, NH.
