Lorin E. Giles, 75, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on May 8, 1951, Lorin was a man of deep faith who loved the Lord and sought to live his life in service to him. He dedicated his life to serving the Lord, his country and his family. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and faithfully served for 27 years, retiring with the rank of Master Sergeant (E-8). Throughout his distinguished military career, he exemplified courage, leadership, and unwavering dedication to his fellow Marines and his country.
His distinguished military career was recognized with numerous awards and decorations, among them the Purple Heart and several honors for his service in Vietnam.
After retiring from the United States Marine Corps, Lorin continued to live a life defined by integrity, humility, faith and service. Whether spending time with family or enjoying life’s simple moments, he was a steady presence, known for his strength, unwavering loyalty, and deep love for those around him.
Above all, Lorin cherished his family. He was first married to Vonda (Jacob) Giles, who preceded him in death. He was later blessed to marry Nancy (Peirce) Giles, with whom he shared 22 wonderful years of marriage filled with love, faith, and companionship. Together they built a loving blended family, and Lorin embraced Nancy’s children as his own.
Lorin is survived by his sisters, each of whom shared a uniquely close and special bond that went far beyond family ties - built on love, loyalty, laughter, and lifelong support. They were a constant and deeply cherished part of his life: Melody Chesbro and her husband, Dirk; Melinda Hendricks and her husband, Nathan; Marie Hodge and her husband, Randy; and Monica Giles and her wife, Kat.
Lorin is also survived by his loving wife, Nancy Giles; his children, Stacy Curtis and her husband, Jay, Kristin McGrath and her husband, Brian, and Kyle Reining and his wife, Heather; eight cherished grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends and fellow Marines.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorraine E. (Neadle) Giles, first wife, Vonda Giles, daughter, Roxanne Emerson, and nephew, Martin (Marty) Foley.
Lorin will be remembered for his strength, integrity, unwavering devotion to his family, and faithful service to his country. He lived a life of honor, sacrifice, and quiet humility, leaving behind a legacy that will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a veteran military organization of your choice in honor of Lorin’s life, service, and sacrifice.
In accordance with his wishes, a private service with military honors will be held at a later date. The family is grateful for the kindness, prayers, and support shown during this difficult time.
