William Howe Slocum Jr., age 81, of The Villages, Florida, peacefully passed away at home on May 17, 2026.

Born on June 6, 1944, in Rochester, New York, William lived a life defined by dedication, service, and an unwavering love for his family. A proud veteran, he honorably served his country in the United States Army in Korea. Following his military service, William enjoyed a long and dedicated career with UPS, from which he eventually retired.

Beyond his professional life, William was an avid golfer who loved playing golf with his beloved wife and friends. He and his wife shared a passion for travel, creating beautiful memories together. Above all else, his greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud girl dad to his "three love bugs," a grandfather who was always dreaming up adventures for his grandkids, and a loving great-grandfather.

William’s legacy of love and devotion lives on through his beloved wife of 60 years, Nancy; his three daughters, Sheryl (Michael) Carbonaro, Christy (Scott) Abernathy, and Julie (Chris) Pratt; his seven cherished grandchildren, Jami, Malcolm, Leo, Riley, Ethan, Bryce, and Jayden; his adored great-grandchild, Delaney; and his siblings, Sandra Raymond, Caroline Mennig, and Phillip Slocum.

He was predeceased by his parents, William and Elsie Slocum, and his sister, Catherine Satimore.

A graveside service and a celebration of William's life will be held this summer in Fulton, New York, where he will be laid to rest with military honors. Details regarding the date and time will be shared by the family once finalized. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the Food for the Hungry organization.
