William Lee Lopez

August 10, 1957 — March 23, 2026

Lieutenant William "Bill" Lee Lopez, USN (Ret.) 68, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully after a short but valiant fight against glioblastoma in his Lady Lake, FL home on March 23, 2026. His two adoring daughters and sweet pup were at his side. He leaves behind a legacy of lessons in love, laughter and respect.

Bill was raised in Providence, Rhode Island, where he graduated from Central High School in 1975. Shortly after, his whole life changed when he enlisted in the US Navy and became a corpsman. He quickly advanced through the ranks and in 1990, Bill became a mustang as he earned his BSN from the University of Rhode Island. After faithfully serving our nation for 25 years, Bill retired from the US Navy as a commissioned officer, and continued on with his nursing career as a traveling OR nurse.

Bill was a foodie with an affinity for sports, travel, and music. He was a very proud daddy and grandpa who loved witnessing his daughters and grandkids smash their own goals. Bill was an avid fan of all New England and Boston sports teams, as well as an Alabama football fan. Some of his most meaningful adventures include going on outings and trips with his children and grandkids; being a peregrino at el Camino de Santiago in Spain; and RVing throughout the United States. He is fondly remembered as someone who would often dance and sing to his vast music collection; and as someone who shared many inside jokes with loved ones.  His entertaining spirit was endearing to all those who knew him.

Preceded in death by his mother Phyllis, Bill is survived by his daughters, Nicole Lopez-Myers (Gabe) of Strasburg, PA,  and Adrienne Lopez of San Diego, CA. Grandchildren Alicia, William, Lexus, Michele, Erika and Jorge. Great grandchildren Ramses and Oaklynn. Siblings Maria, David and Eric. His pup and absolute joy Tessie Caroline. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and colleagues all over the world who will miss him dearly.

A burial with full military honors will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests to please send a donation in his honor to the Hero Care Network through the American Red Cross.
