In Loving Memory of Mrs. Susan Annette Copeland

Susan passed away peacefully on Monday, November 4, surrounded by her loved ones. She was the daughter of Alene Sloan and is survived by her loving husband Todd Copeland, father, Joel Sloan, and her brother, Steven Sloan. 

Susan served as the Director of the Polk Education Foundation and was a graduate of Auburndale High School. She earned degrees from Polk State College, Warner University, and obtained her master’s degree from Southern University. 

In recognition of her contributions to education, Susan was inducted into the Auburndale High School Hall of Fame. She received numerous accolades, including the Polk State College Distinguished Alumni Award, the Consortium Champion Award from the Consortium of Florida Education Foundations, and the "She Knows Where She Is Going" Award from Winter Haven Girls, Inc. She was also honored by Lakeland Girls, Inc.

A passionate advocate for education, Susan dedicated her life to helping children improve their academic opportunities.

 Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 7, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Kersey's Funeral Home in Auburndale. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, November 8, at 10:00 AM at the First Missionary Baptist Church in Auburndale. Interment will be at Auburndale Memorial Park Cemetery.
