She had worked in a convenience store in Auburndale, Florida, and with Commercial Carrier as an accounting clerk in Auburndale. When the couple came back to North Carolina, she worked at Lonnie Poole’s station, and then Kerr Drug warehouse. As the family journeyed back to Florida, she used her homemaking skills. When the opportunity came for the couple to once again return to North Carolina, she began babysitting duties, becoming quite fond of the children in her care. Wanda and Don were members of Faison Baptist Church in Faison.
She is survived by her husband, Don, to whom she had been married for 62 years; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Lee Parrish, Jr. and Tammy Parrish, of Garner; a daughter, Jill Parrish, of Mount Olive; a granddaughter, Sara Parrish, of Faison; a sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and Mike Teer, of Chapel Hill; another brother-in-law, Hugh Green, of Cape Coral, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Parrish; nieces and nephews, Jaime Church of Graham, Andy Teer, of Chapel Hill, Phillip Green, of Bahrain, Dr. Lynn Green, of Green Bay, Wisconsin, Sherry Howell and husband, Mike, and Lettie Shasteen and husband, Ryan. Also surviving is a family “adopted in love,” by Don and Wanda, Doug and Jennifer Deliso of Faison, and their children, Dynah and Triston, who became their other grandchildren. Wanda joins in death, the company of her infant son, Lemmie Parrish; her parents, Lemmie Lee and Fannie Brown Lee; and her sister, Annette Green.
