Dan McMullen
April 17, 1925 — May 16, 2026
Dan passed away May, 2026, in Auburn, at the age of 91.
He was born in Hill City, Minnesota to Clara and John Henry "Mac" McMullen, in April of 1935. The family had brief stays in California and Oregon before settling in Auburn. First in the city; then out to the family farm on the Stuck River. Auburn remained his hometown for the rest of his life.
Following graduation in 1953, Dan proudly served his country in the US Army, spending most of his time stationed in Germany. After completing his military service he returned to Auburn where he built a life focused on hard work, family, and the community he loved.
Dan and Rafeline (Scarpelli) were married in 1957 and together raised three children. Family was always at the heart of Dan's life. He took great pride in watching his family grow through the generations.
Dan worked managing New Lumber and Hardware before going into real estate. His dream job came after retirement when he joined the team at Emerald Downs. Hanging out at the track, being around horses, watching them train and race, brought him great joy. It allowed him to spend his days outdoors, close to something he loved. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and being around the salt water, taking frequent trips to the Puget Sound, and numerous trips to the ocean. He adored being in the salt air.
Dan was preceded in death by his brothers Jim, Dave, and Mike, and his sister, Joyce. He is forever in the hearts of his loving wife, Rafeline, his children Kathleen, Kelly, and Kenneth (Michelle), his grandchildren Anthony, Francesca, Mac, Rylan, and Lily, and 10 great grandchildren, his sister, Carolyn, many nieces and nephews, extended family members, and countless friends.
His kindness and gentleness, tremendous sense of humor, and love for family will be treasured. Forever loved.
