Dorothy Charlotte Lee

Jul 6, 1930 — Jun 29, 2026

Dorothy Charlotte Lee passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 29th at the age of 95. Born in Holly, CO to Manuel and Mary (Vocke) Schultz. She was the oldest of three sisters. The family moved around CO while she was growing up, until they finally settled in Loveland, CO.

During her childhood, she spent time at her grandparents’ farm, where her love of gardening grew. She was also an avid accordion player. She would accompany her father to the local prisons for praise and prayer sessions.

Dorothy met and married her first husband, Charles. She had six children with Charles, while he was stationed in Massachusetts. After his military service, the family moved to Washington State, where Charles was hired to work on the Super Sonic Transport (SST) project with Boeing. Dorothy spent more than 30 years of service in the federal government, with the last half of those years, working at GSA as a Contract Specialist, before retiring.

During the time in Washington, Dorothy continued playing her accordion while serving others at various missions in downtown Seattle. She also was very active in the Nazarene Church in multiple roles: Choir, bible study teacher and making sure everyone read the missionary books.

Family was very important to Dorothy. Being a single parent to 6 children under the age of 16, she found strength in faith and laughter. She kept her children on their toes through her unexpected jokes and actions (think water balloon fights).

Dorothy met her 2nd husband, Reuel Lee, at church and they celebrated 17 years together before he was called home to be with the Lord.

Dorothy is survived by her children William (Lesley) Johnson, Mary (Ray) Wold, Robert Johnson, Carol (David) Smith, Donna Burnside and Nancy Langston; grandchildren Misty (Tim) Hill, Joseph Smith, Jeremy (Shelby) Smith, Amber Burnside and Rachel (Jared) Candelaria; great grandchildren Roslyn Elledge, Carson Elledge, Zane Smith, Odin Smith and Alek Smith.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Reuel Lee; her parents, Manuel and Mary Schultz, her sister Della Michel, and grandson Benjamin Smith.

In her final years, Dorothy was blessed to have the love and care from her daughters, Nancy and Donna, as well as the support from family and MultiCare Hospice.
