Roselyn "Raisel" Silkes
April 9, 1936 — September 13, 2014
It is with great sadness and heartbreak we announce the sudden passing of our mother Roselyn Silkes on September 13, 2014 in Los Angeles. Roz was born in Brooklyn , New York on April 9, 1936 to Adele and Abraham Feitelson. She graduated from Tilden Hgh School at the age of 16 and went to work for a Greek shipping magnate on Wall St. In 1955 she married the love of her life Hyman Silkes, who she met on a blind date. Together as a couple they worked hard to build a wonderful life and raised 3 children who adored them. Later in life Roz got to travel the world with her husband.
While traveling was her passion, nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren. Everyone who knew Roz knew that her family was her whole world, and because of this unconditional love she is so dearly missed by us all. While small in stature, Roz was huge in personality and heart. She was a real fireball and her incredible smile lit up every room she entered.
Roz is survived by her husband Hy, beloved children Sharon (Dave) , Linda, and Alan (Sue- Anne) and grandchildren Danielle, Lexi, Julia, Austin and Maya and by sister Claire.
A private burial took place at the Southern Nevada Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Contributions in Roz's memory may be made to St. Baldrick's Foundation, http://www.stbaldricks.org/.
