Russell Lewis Schember

Russell Lewis Schember, Jr, age 66, of Las Vegas, died Thursday, May 28, 2015. Russell was born September 11, 1948 in New York, NY to the late Russell and the late Elizabeth (Sevarese) Schember Sr. He had a career as a high school English and Forensics teacher, and retired after 30 years from working at Chaparral High School, the New Las Vegas High School and Desert Pines High School. He coached the only Speech and Debate Team in Nevada that produced a winner in the national competitions. Russ enjoyed reading and traveling and went all over the world numerous times. He is survived by his partner of 42 years, Benjamin Nance III; sister Beth Clinger; nieces and nephews Kristine Rodrigues, Kimberly Clinger, Marke Clinger and God daughter Catheryn Burford-Scharfenberg. Russ was admired and loved by many former students and teachers. A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date. Contributions may be made to Nathan Adelson Hospice.
