Susan Wendy Vex

Susan Wendy Vex, 67, of Las Vegas, died Sunday, July 26, 2015. Susan was born March 12, 1948 in New York, NY to the late Abraham and the late Pauline Shindel. At age six, she was recognized as a piano prodigy and attended the Julliard School of Performing Arts. She received her Bachelor degree in Education and Sociology and a Master's degree in Statistics, both from Queens College. Her groundbreaking master's thesis was on the topic of alcoholism within the Orthodox Jewish community. Throughout her life, Susan sang and performed piano concerts all around the United States and in many countries around the world. She lived in Sweden from 1987-1998. While there, she owned a production company and ran a summer camp for children of alcoholics. After moving to Las Vegas in 1998 she began working at the Milton I Schwartz Hebrew Academy. She retired from the staff of the Adelson Educational Campus in 2014, after teaching music and voice to hundreds over the years. Susan is survived by her husband Robert Vex and daughter Emelie Wade. A memorial service will be held 6:30 pm on Tuesday, July 28, 2015 at the Adelson Educational Campus, 9700 Hillpointe Rd, Las Vegas, NV. A private burial will follow. .
