Emblem

William Henry Edwards, Jr. — known to all as Bill — passed away after a life lived as a "Man for Others."

Bill was a man of integrity, compassion, courage, and generosity. From his years of honorable service in the United States Army to a distinguished 36-year career with Hilton Hotels Corporation — where he rose to Area Vice President, Mid-Atlantic — he built a legacy of leadership and service. During his 31 years at the Washington Hilton, he hosted U.S. Presidents, government and religious leaders, CEOs, and celebrities, accumulating extraordinary stories that he loved to share. He also served as Chairman of the Greater Washington Regional Board of Trade, the DC Convention and Visitors Association, and the DC Hotel Association.

Beyond his professional life, Bill gave equally of himself to countless community and charitable organizations, including the Knights of Malta, Washington Hospital Center, United States Marine Corps, Society of the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick, and HEROES, Inc. He always showed up where he was needed most, expecting nothing in return.

Above all, Bill was most proud of his family. A devoted husband, brother, father, and grandfather, he found his greatest joy in providing for and being present with the people he loved. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patty; his three children, Kelly (Jason), Billy (Paige), and Brian (Chelsea); his five grandchildren Avery, Aidan, Maya, Brody, and Madison, who knew him as Pop-Pop; and his brother, Brad (Kerri) and family.

A memorial mass will be held on Friday, June 12th at 1:00 p.m. EST at the Church of the Little Flower in Bethesda, Maryland, with a reception to follow for friends and family from 3:00-5:00 p.m. EST at the Washington Hilton in Washington, D.C.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, the family kindly asks that you consider a contribution to HEROES, Inc.®, an organization Bill served on the board of with great passion, supporting the spouses and children of law enforcement officers and firefighters who gave their lives in the line of duty.
