Obituary for Daniel Kneip

Daniel “Dan” Kneip, age 80, of Maricopa, Arizona, passed away on May 10th, 2026 surrounded by the love of his family. He was born on August 12, 1945, in Peoria, Illinois, and spent most of his married life in the Washington, Illinois area before moving to Maricopa, Arizona in 2023 to enjoy retirement in a 55- plus community with his wife.

Dan dedicated 40 years of his life at Caterpillar, where he worked as a precision tool grinder. He was a veteran of the United States Army Reserve. Outside of work, he found joy in the simple things that made life meaningful. He loved gardening, NASCAR, fishing, and taking scenic vacations that allowed him to appreciate the beauty of the world around him.

At home, Dan was happiest spending peaceful days with his wife, Loretta, who he was married to for 54 years, sharing a life built on devotion, companionship, and deep affection. His gentle presence and easygoing nature made him someone people naturally felt comfortable around.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents; Anthony, (Tony) Joseph Kneip and Bernadine Mary Kneip of Metamora, and one son, Nickolas Kneip of Bartonville, Illinois.

He is survived by his wife, Loretta Kneip; his daughter, Connie (William) Miller of Texas; his brothers Bill Kneip; (Rita) of Arkansas, Bob Kneip; (Sheri) of Georgia, Dick Kneip; (Nancy) of Missouri; sister-in-law Lynell Fisher; (John) of Florida, brothers-in-law Kevin Jenkins of Arizona, and Robert Jenkins of California; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Dan's life will be remembered for his kindness, his steady spirit, and the love he gave so freely to those around him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family wishes to honor their loved one’s memory in a private way and there will be no formal services. The cremation will take place accordingly.
