JERRY LEE GAYER Age 81, most recently of Mesa AZ, passed on December 20th, 2020. He was born on Sept 12th, 1939 in Lebanon, Indiana to Marrietta (Todd) and Donald Gayer. Jerry was an Army Veteran and served in the 3rd Infantry in Germany. He loved the outdoors and went on to attend the Minnesota School of Forestry and served in the US Forest Service. With a focus on tree conservation he spent many years at Davey Tree, and went on to form his own business, which he continued until retirement. He loved baseball, and the Detroit Tigers. Jerry made friends wherever he went, and spent his later years in Livermore CA , T or C NM, and Mesa AZ. He is preceded in death by parents, Don & Marietta, and brother Joe. Survived by sister Donna Martin (“The best big brother a little sister could have”) ; daughters Christine Metcalf, Amy Sweigert (John), Suzanne Salmon (Andy), Teresa Tipps (Dan), Carol Shaffer, and Jayme Collins (Brian); son Jeremy Gayer; 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 6 nieces/nephews Due to pandemic, services will be held at a later date.
