Linda Smith

December 23, 1954 — August 6, 2019

Linda Louise Smith, most known as “Mom & Grammy”, 64 years old of Surprise Arizona accepted her angel wings on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 at 3:53 a.m. at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center. Her twin daughters Alycia and Angela Smith of Surprise, Arizona, 3 grandchildren; Adrianna Conchos, Juliana and Julian Smith were by her side. Her son Matthew Smith-Caggiano and grandson Dominic Smith-Caggiano were on the phone with her till her very last breath. She was a loving, compassionate, selfless, caring, fun spirited, hard-working, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and “mom” to many. Linda was born on December 23, 1954 in Boston, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her father Almus Smith, mother Louise Caulfield, step-mom Patricia Smith, brother David Smith and other family members. She was raised in Whitman, Massachusetts. She lived in the Southwest as a young adult, then moved to Harrisonburg, Virginia where she lived for 16 years before moving back to Arizona in 2006. Linda was employed by Circle K Corporation in Phoenix, AZ, Rocco and Cargill in Harrisonburg, VA and held customer service positions when she moved to Arizona before retiring in 2016 to take care of her grandkids. Surviving are her son, Matthew David Smith-Caggiano (41) and daughter in-law, Katie Smith-Caggiano of Arcata, California. Linda has twin daughters Alycia Ann Smith and Angela Louise Smith (33) both of Surprise Arizona. She has 3 sisters; Wanda O’rourke of Bridgewater, MA, Joanne Thibeault of Bridgewater, MA and Cindra Smith-Carey of Middleboro, MA. Linda is also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews and has 6 grandchildren; Adrianna Conchos (8), Dominic Smith-Caggiano (7), Juliana Smith (3), Isabella Smith-Caggiano (3), Julian Smith (2) and Gianna Smith-Caggiano (6months). She has 3 fur grandbabies (Louie, Bailey and Bella) who she loved very much even when they licked her constantly and barked non-stop. Linda’s greatest accomplishments in life were raising her 3 kids as a single parent and being a Grammy. Her grandchildren brought so much joy to her life. Linda enjoyed playing BINGO, going to the casino (she occasionally snuck out at night) to play because “her penny machines were always hot” and she always had luck. She loved watching her sports teams play; the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, the Boston Bruins and the Celtics. Anytime she saw a Yankees fan or a New Yorker she gave them a hard time because she was a true Boston sports fan to the core. She enjoyed watching her teams win many Championships throughout the years. She loved listening to Oldies, dancing, going to concerts, Bruno Mars was her celebrity crush and her favorite song was “Star Boy” by The Weekend. Linda’s hobbies included swimming, eating ice cream, baking, cooking, going on trips and spending time with her family. She liked watching Price is Right, Wheel of Fortune, Little House on the Prairie, CNN (she thought everything at the White House was comical), Hallmark Christmas movies and HGTV. Her favorite Holiday was Christmas. Anyone who met Linda fell in love with her immediately because of her smile, laugh that occasionally came with a “snort”, humor, personality and for how loving she was to anyone. Linda was diagnosed in 2015 with Cervical Cancer and on March 26, 2018, she was told that she was in kidney failure and that the cancer had come back. She had 20+ hospitalizations in these last 17 months because of treatment and complications from her kidneys and cancer. She will ALWAYS be remembered by everyone who followed her journey as a WARRIOR. She never gave up the fight. Some people may think that she lost her battle, however Linda finished her part of the race. She passed the baton to her kids, grandchildren and everyone else she inspired along the way. She taught us that no matter what struggles we may face, to never give up and to always keep the Faith. Her legacy will forever be carried on by many. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten. Until we meet again, we love you. Our Guardian Angel up in Heaven.
