Magdalena Guadalupe Figueroa Magaña

April 9, 1940 — June 12, 2025

Magdalena Guadalupe Figueroa Magaña – Affectionately known as “Monkie” to many and more recently as “Ms Maggie,” passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones on June 12, 2025, at the age of 85.

Born on April 9, 1940, in Williams, Arizona, to Hijinio and Amalia Figueroa, Magdalena was the eldest of ten siblings. Her early experiences helping raise her brothers and sisters shaped the deep love and nurturing spirit she would carry throughout her life.

She later moved to Flagstaff, Arizona, where she attended Flagstaff High School and graduated with the Class of 1958. During her high school years, she proudly lettered in softball – a sport that remained a lifelong passion. Her love of the game extended beyond her own playing years, as she devoted herself to coaching and mentoring younger generations.

In 1959, Magdalena married her best friend and her life partner, Arthur “Archie” Magaña. Together, they build a strong and loving family, raising eight children. A woman of great heart, resilience, and humor, Ms. Maggie’s home was always full – with laughter, love and often the comforting smell of a good homecooked meal. The Family door was always open for all to join us for a meal.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Archie and their eldest son Christoper. She is survived by her daughters Debbie Martinez (Arnold), Rebecca Magaña, and Adrienne Triano (Dennis); her sons Vincent, Patrick (Christina), Arthur Jr., and Marlon; twenty-three grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her six sisters, three brothers, and many nieces and nephews.

Services are currently being planned, and details will be shared with family and friends in the coming days.

Ms. Maggie’s legacy lives on in the lives she touched with her fierce love, wise guidance and unwavering devotion to family.
