Dixie Arline Brightwell

Dixie Arline Rogers Brightwell was born in Lubbock, Texas on Sept. 3, 1928 to Sam Rogers and Bamma Crawford Rogers.

When Dixie was 3 yrs old her father passed away so a few years later her mom took her 6 children and moved to Cleveland, OK. There Dixie excelled in her 12 years of school and graduated in 1947. Soon after graduation her new husband found work in California on the Mohave Desert where they made their home for the next 11 years. Her two children were born there in Trona. In 1958 they decided to move to Wilder, Idaho and remained there until 1966 when they moved to Ontario, OR. That was her home for the rest of her life.  

She was proceeded in death by her husband Lawton Brightwell, her mother and father and her two brothers and four sisters. 

She is survived by her son Lionel Brightwell, her daughter Karen Neiberger, granddaughter Elizabeth Brightwell and great-granddaughter Alexis Lawry. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.   

She worshipped at the Church of Christ in Fruitland and had many close friends in the congregation.  

The last three years of her life were spent at Brookdale Assisted Living where she was treated like family. She often said that she was in exactly the place she needed to be.  

Services will be at Lienkaemper-Thomason in Ontario on Monday, January 12 at 10:00, followed by a private burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
