James Clark

James Rice Clark passed away peacefully at The Rucki Hospice Care Center in Zephyrhills, Florida on May 29, 2022. He was born in Palm Springs, California on January 10, 1944 to Mack and Rebecca Clark, graduated from Clarksville (TN) High School, was a Merit Scholarship finalist among other honors, attended Vanderbilt University, and graduated with both a Bachelor of Science and Master of Science Degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He spent 11 years in the U.S. Army Reserves rising to the rank of Sergeant First Class and held the position of first sergeant in the 3292nd USAR School. He had retired from the University of South Florida after spending twenty-five years in the University Computing Services offices and in the Central Florida Regional Data Center in a variety of professional positions. He also was an adjunct instructor at Hillsborough Community College and in the USF College of Engineering. He relished his retirement time spent in travels, social card games, and bird-watching. He was always pleased that his work experiences including everything from being a grave digger in a cemetery, to Department of Agriculture crop surveyor, to Tampa Police patrolman, to University Assistant Registrar, to college professor, and computer guru. His lively spirit and impish sense of humor will be greatly missed by his many friends at USF, in Wesley Chapel, Florida, in Knoxville, Tennessee, and in Flag Pond, Tennessee. He will be especially missed by his wife, Patricia Cosby Clark of Knoxville, Tennessee. His only regret in life was that he had not married Patricia sooner as she was truly the light of his life. Patricia is grateful for the compassion and care of the caregiving staff at the Rucki Hospice Care Center.
