Jimmie Leon Williams

July 5, 1933 — February 16, 2026

Jimmie Leon Williams, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026.

Born on July 5, 1933, to Virginia and Jim Williams, Jimmie was a true Florida pioneer, born and raised in Greenfield, Florida, later known as Gower’s Corner. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, earning the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He remained proud of his service throughout his life.

A hardworking businessman, Jimmie owned and operated Crossroads Sawmill alongside his brother, Virgil Williams, helping support the growth of the Gower’s Corner community. He later owned Continental Auto in Land O’ Lakes for many years, where he was known for his strong work ethic and dedication to those he served.

Jimmie shared three daughters with Gayl Williams: Violet Gibbs (Malcolm Jr.), Vicki Lewis (Kenneth), and Velvet Hunt (Fred). He was a proud grandfather to Malcolm Gibbs III (Jenny) and Kelci Lewis Robbins (Zak), and a cherished great-grandfather to Malcolm IV, Jordan, and Shelby, as well as great-great-grandfather to Malcolm V (“Fatboy”). He is also fondly remembered by his loyal companion, Shelby the dog.

Later in life, he married Judy Williams and gained an extended family through their marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his three brothers, Frank, JW, and Albert Williams; his wife, Judy Williams; and his son-in-law, Malcolm Gibbs Jr.

Jimmie enjoyed tending to his land, looking after his cattle and donkeys, watching deer and turkeys wander through, airboating, and spending time at his Homosassa home. He took great pride in keeping his place just right and could often be found riding his John Deere or Kubota, working the land he loved. He lived a long, full life rooted in hard work, independence, and a deep connection to the outdoors.

He will be remembered by his family, friends, and the Gower’s Corner community as a man who lived life his own way and left a lasting mark on those around him.
