Ruth A Hughes
October 8, 1944 — March 22, 2018
HUGHES, Ruth, 73, of Land O’ Lakes, Florida passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2018. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to the Tampa area with her family as a little girl. Ruth was a member of Ark of Reconciliation Ministries in Tampa. While raising her family, Ruth was a medical assistant, but after teaching Sunday school for many years, she became an ordained minister. She loved worshiping the Lord. Her children always remember their mom being very involved in church, whether it was hosting bible study and prayer meetings or going every Wednesday and Sunday. Ruth always looked forward to going out to eat after church on Sundays. She enjoyed watching westerns, crocheting, doing word searches, Sudoku puzzles, and going to either the park or the library to read her bible. Early on, she enjoyed gardening. Ruth loved her daily ice tea or Diet Coke. She gave back to her community by volunteering at a local soup kitchen. Ruth was kind and always giving to others. She is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Hughes; and her brother, Bill Pratt. Ruth is survived by two sons, Charles Trotter and his wife, Christine, and Robert Trotter; two daughters, Vicky Sisk and her husband, Steve, and Bobbie Adkins; three sisters, Marion, Florence, and Claire; 13 grandchildren, Denise, Rebecca, Kimberly, Ashley, Jessica, Stephanie, Brittany, Tiffany, Desiree, Chad, Niki, Gizelle, and Elizabeth; 13 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Nessime, Brently, Kaitlyn, Hannah, Alison, Aiden, Alexis, Madison, Drake, Kylie, Madison, and Miles. A funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Ark of Reconciliation Ministries of Tampa. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will take place at Zephyrhills Cemetery.
