Albino R. Pilla

Dec 16, 1947 — Jun 27, 2026

Albino Ronald Pilla "Ron", of Glassboro, NJ, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

FAMILY

Son of the late Edward J. Pilla, Sr. and Rebecca (Zembower), Ron was born and raised in South Philadelphia. He is the brother of Renee and the late Edward J. Pilla Jr. He also survives a massive extended family, containing too many to name. He was the loving husband of 56 years to Susan Mary (Palma), and the beloved father of Matthew (Michele) and Stephanie. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Samantha, Matthew, Aaron, Elise & Justin. He also leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and other young people that regarded him as “uncle”.

LEGACY

Ron married and lived in Upper Darby, PA until moving to South Jersey with his family in 1983. Buying new construction in Gloucester Township, he and Susan raised their children and lived in the same house until 2020. Then they downsized and settled in Glassboro where he lived the remainder of his years.

He owned a beauty salon in Delaware County and then another in Voorhees. While in his 40’s, he had a heart to change occupations and continued his education at Camden County College to start a career in accounting. He retired a few years ago, but continued working up to the day that he was physically unable. He had an incredibly humble work ethic that is alive in his two children and his grandkids, and always modeled it with a smile on his face. It was unusual to see him not smiling! The older he got, the more joyful he became! (Psalm 92:14).

Ron loved the Lord, and emphatically stated so with some of his very last words. He responded to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and was born-again at Gloucester County Community Church on June 27th, 2004. Yes, the same date as his passing. God’s providence was all over Ron’s life, and it increasingly showed as he grew in Christ each year. In recent years, Ron was a legacy member of the church his son founded and pastored, The House Church in Washington Twp. He attended faithfully until his sickness rendered him unable, and had many close friends there. He truly loved spending time with his family and friends over a cup of coffee. He would drink it all day, yet have no problem going right to bed! Having dinner gatherings were a must for Ron, and grabbing breakfast at a local diner was one of his favorite pastimes. He was very particular about how to “cut the cake” and always had a clever quip ready, regardless of the subject matter or occasion. He has fond memories of getting to dinner early to play Pinochle with the guys, taking family vacations down the shore, squeezing a dot of Reddi-Whip on the fingers of his grandkids, watching the Eagles with his son and taking trips to PA to spend time with his daughter. Most of all, nothing made him happier than spending time with his grandchildren. He loved watching them hit life’s milestones, and enjoyed every minute with them.

Ron’s absence will be felt more than most. He was loved by us, and he loved us all well. We know that we will see him in eternity, knowing that in Christ his salvation was secure. What started as a faith journey here has turned into a glorious celebration up there (Luke 15:7). We’ll see you when we get there!
