Elaine H. Hammel
June 7, 1942 — July 11, 2024
Elaine Hammel, nee Cullen,aged 82, of Sewell, NJ passed away July 11,2024 after a lengthy illness that she fought bravely. Thanks go out to the staff of Atlas Post Acute of Woodbury for their compassionate care and help during this sorrowful time.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware, Elaine lived in Washington Township for more than 50 years. She was a former member of the Tallyville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a graduate of Brandywine High School. She met and married her husband, Elmer at The Oasis Ballroom in Mullica Hill. She was a member of the Washington Township American Legion Auxiliary.
Elaine loved nature and all of God's creations (expect snakes and stinkbugs) and any critter who wandered into her yard was a friend who deserved a name. Her yard was a welcome respite for all nature. She and her husband enjoyed many wonderful trips watching whales and dolphins and admiring the sea.
Elaine is predeceased by her husband, Elmer Hammel, grandson Matthew Atkinson, sister Janice Cox, brother Jack Cullen. She leaves behind to carry on her memory, daughters Susan Parenteau (Paul) of Wenonah,NJ, Janet Moritz of Hillsboro, New Hampshire, granddaughters Valerie Speight (David) , Katie Moritz, grandsons Steven Moritz Jr (Elizabeth)& Thomas Moritz III. Great granddaughters Harper and Caroline, and great grandson Steven Moritz lll. She also leaves behind her companion of many years, Mr. Louis Wilson of Glassboro, NJ.
Graveside services will be held on July 25, 2024 at 11:00 am at the Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, located at 240 N. Tuckahoe Rd, Williamstown, NJ, 08094
