Elda "Ginger" Routzahn
September 25, 1947 — April 22, 2026
Elda “Ginger” Routzahn (Rutter), 78, of Glassboro, formerly of Washington Township, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026. Born on September 25, 1947, in Philadelphia, PA.
She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband, David N. Routzahn Sr.; her parents, Louis and Edith Rutter; and her brothers, William Rutter and James Rutter.
Ginger leaves behind her sons, David N. Routzahn Jr. (Kimberly), Kenneth Lieberman, Sean Routzahn (Rebecca), and Robert Routzahn (Charles), who were the center of her world. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Ellie, Matthew, Joshua, Jannessa, and Jessica. She is also survived by her loving sister, Florence DeColli and by many nieces and nephews.
Ginger spent over 40 years in Washington Township, where she raised her boys and created a home that was always full of family, friends, and laughter. She was a dedicated worker and spent her career as a Senior Customer Service Representative in the insurance field working for State Farm and Travelers Insurance. In true Ginger fashion, retirement was never going to slow her down. She could not sit still for long and after the passing of her husband, she later went back to work in the office at Bayada Home Health Care, where she enjoyed being busy and being around people. Bayada would later come full circle in Ginger’s life, providing compassionate care and support in her final days.
To so many, Ginger was the neighborhood mom. Kids and neighbors always knew her door was open, whether it was to raid her snack cabinet, sit down for her homemade meatballs, or cool off with one of her famous glasses of homemade iced tea. She had a special way of making everyone feel like family.
Outside of work, Ginger loved the simple joys in life, working in her garden, trips to the shore, and spending time at the casino playing the slot machines. She especially loved being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She also loved visiting Walt Disney World, where her special love for Minnie Mouse always brought out her playful side.
The holidays were one of Ginger’s favorite times of year. Everyone who knew her looked forward to her Christmas candy and homemade cookies, which she lovingly made and shared each season. Those treats, like Ginger herself, brought people together and created lasting memories.
Friends and family are invited to a visitation on Saturday, May 16th from 9 am to 11 am at McGuinness Funeral Home, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080, with a memorial service to immediately follow. Interment will take place privately.
