Mary Patricia Briggs

Mary Patricia Briggs, (nee Riffitts) aged 83, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

A woman of deep faith, Mary lived her life guided by love, compassion and most importantly, laughter. She was known for her kind heart, joyful spirit and unwavering love of God and her family.

She was a homemaker whose greatest accomplishment was her successful family, which she nurtured with endless care and devotion. She also shared her warmth and joy with others through her work at the Disney Store, where her love of Disney and bright personality touched many.

Mary will be remembered for her infections laugh, her deep affection for her nieces and nephews, and her loyal love for pets.  She found joy in life’s simply pleasures: reading, arts & crafts, Disney musicals, crosswords and Sudoku. Her creativity and humor lit up every room she entered.

She is survived by her loving children, Michael Briggs (Danielle), Martin Briggs, and Matthew Briggs: cherished grandmother to Tyler, Hunter, Madison, MichaelAnne, and Grace. Beloved great grandmother to Tanya. Dear sister of James Riffitts. She was predeceased by her parents, Vincent Riffitts and Helen Riffitts (Simpson), her brothers Jack Riffitts and William Riffitts, her husband of 54 years, Merton Briggs and daughter Monica Briggs Rushing.

Family and friends are invited to Mary’s viewing on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 10:00am to 11:00am at McGuinness Funeral Home-Washington Township Location, 573 Egg Harbor Road, Sewell, NJ 08080. Funeral Services will follow at 11:00am. Interment will be held at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, 240 Lower Landing Road, Chews Landing, NJ.
