Patricia Anne Cattafesta
March 2, 1934 — May 14, 2025
Patricia Anne Cattafesta, affectionately known as Pat, [Peppermint] Patty, and Aunt Pat, passed away peacefully at age 91. She was being visited by family and cared for by the kind healthcare team at New Jersey Eastern Star Rehabilitation and Nursing Home in Bridgewater, New Jersey at the time of her passing.
Pat was born on March 2, 1934, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and raised in the great “Northeast” (Northeast Philadelphia), with her two older siblings, James and Grace. She graduated from Lincoln High School and worked as a bookkeeper for various small businesses before marrying William Marco Cattafesta in 1962. After living in Philadelphia and Maryland, Pat and Bill moved to Turnersville, New Jersey where they were avid bowlers and welcomed daughter Joanne in 1970. Their loving marriage endured until his death in 2004.
Pat was a devoted stay-at-home mom who was active in Joanne’s development and activities, driving her to piano lessons, girl scouts, and other social events. She was always someone Joanne or her favorite nieces, Gracie and Ruth, could go to for love, advice, humor, and a comforting hug. As she also enjoyed watching the birds and other wildlife in her backyard, she was a persistent advocate in protecting the preserved woods behind her neighborhood from development.
In the 1980s, Pat embarked on a second career in residential real estate, where she honed her sales skills and successfully helped buyers and sellers in south jersey for almost 30 years.
Since her childhood, Pat loved exploring new neighborhoods and traveling to various parts of the country. In her later years, she accompanied Joanne on many cross-country road trips and enjoyed living with her in Saint Louis, Missouri, Lexington, Kentucky and Franklin Park, New Jersey.
Pat’s family fondly remembers her love for the New Jersey shore, the Missouri Botanical Gardens, card games, family time, backgammon, and exploring unfamiliar places along the East Coast, and in the Midwest and South. Pat will be remembered as a high-spirited and feisty woman with a great sense of humor who was generous with her love and time.
Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, sister Grace and brother Jimmy. She is survived by her daughter, Joanne, nieces, Gracie (Don) Gittle, Ruth (Jim) Wilkins, and is a loving sister-in-law and favorite aunt to many other nieces and nephews.
