Charles Henry Stamp, Jr., age 87, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026, surrounded by family. Born on December 31, 1938, in Bellmawr, New Jersey, Charles spent his entire life in South Jersey, living over the years in Runnemede, Vineland, Pittsgrove, and West Deptford.
Charles was predeceased by his first wife, Doris, and his second wife, Susan. He was a devoted father who raised five children: Dawn, Nicky, Michelle, Denice, and Amanda. He also carried throughout his life the loss of two children, Henry and Charles, who passed shortly after birth. He was predeceased by beloved grandchildren Max, Tracey, and Nicky Jr. He was a proud grandfather to Paula, Brian, Eddie, Alyson, Kristin, Ryan, Tim, Jessie, Anthony, Lily, Dylan, Damien, Zeppelin, November, and Ever, and a loving great-grandfather to Chelsea, Frank, and Jack. Charles was predeceased by several beloved siblings, including Winifred “Winnie,” James “Jimmy,” Elizabeth “Betty,” George, and Mary “Aggie”. His parents Charles Sr and Winifred, and he is survived by his beloved sister, Ellen.
Charles spent his career as a union painter and was known as a hardworking man who always showed up for the people he loved. He was a true family man through and through and found joy in the simple things in life.
Charles loved watching sports, sitcoms, and western movies, and he especially loved spending time surrounded by family and friends. For many years, his annual Fourth of July party became a cherished tradition that brought family together and created countless memories. He also enjoyed playing the lottery and trips to the casino, always hopeful that the next big win was right around the corner.
Known for his quick wit and sense of humor, Charles was a classic jokester who could always make people laugh. He had a sarcastic charm, quiet strength, generous heart, and deep love for his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Above all else, family was the center of his world.
Farewell Tribute
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Wednesday, May 20th from 4:00PM to 7:00PM in the McGuinness Funeral Home- (Woodbury Location) 34 Hunter Street Woodbury, NJ 08096 and Thursday, May 21st from 10:15AM to 11:15AM in the Infant Jesus Parish at St. Margaret's RC Church 3rd & Beech Avenue Woodbury Heights, NJ 08097. Funeral Mass at 11:30AM. Interment will be private. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations or acts of kindness be made in Charle's memory to Samaritan at SamaritanNJ.org/Donate or mailed to P.O. Box 71425, Philadelphia, PA 19176.
