Joseph F. Thompson, 84, of Wenonah, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home on July 29, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on February 28, 1941, Joe was a proud graduate of West Catholic Boys High School. He went on to serve his country with honor in the U.S. Navy for four years. A lifelong learner, Joe attended night school at Widener University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering.
A devout Catholic, Joe was a devoted family man who cherished the time he spent with his family and friends. He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Marie; his sons, Joseph (Donna) and Michael (Sharon); and his daughters, Annamarie (George) and Debra (Tony). He was also a loving grandfather and great-grandfather to 39 cherished members of his family, who will forever miss his presence and guidance.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at McGuinness Funeral Home, located at 34 Hunter St, Woodbury, NJ 08096. A Funeral Mass will follow at Infant Jesus Parish - St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, 334 Beech Ave, Woodbury Heights, NJ 08097, from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m.
Internment will take place at New Saint Mary's Cemetery in Bellmawr, New Jersey, at a time to be determined.
