Shirley Lee Harris

November 18, 1933 — April 9, 2025

Shirley Lee Harris (nee Bradbury), a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the age of 91, in her home in West Deptford, New Jersey surrounded by her loving family.

Legacy

Born on November 18, 1933, in Camden, New Jersey, Shirley was a kind, generous, and warm-hearted woman who dedicated her life to her family, her community, and her church.

She grew up in Woodbury, where she met the love of her life, Clayton. They married in 1955 and made their home in Woodbury before settling in West Deptford in 1966. Shirley quickly fell in love with her new hometown and cherished the house she called home for so many years—often saying she loved “every brick, every stick” of it.

A devoted community member, Shirley was involved in the early days of the West Deptford Recreation Committee, playing a key role in launching the Summer Recreation Program. This initiative provided children across the town with a safe, joyful space to enjoy games, arts and crafts, and friendship at local parks.

Professionally, Shirley worked as a dedicated medical clerk for Dr. Francis O’Connor and later as a welcoming presence at the front desk of West Deptford Township. Beyond work, she was a passionate artist who found joy in tole painting, ceramics, cross-stitch, and crochet. Her happiest moments were often spent in the company of her grandchildren, sharing stories, crafts, playing board games and laughter.

Shirley leaves behind a lasting legacy of love, creativity, and community spirit. Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
