Gloria Jacobs Heywood

Feb 20, 1930 — Feb 18, 2019

Gloria Jacobs Heywood, 88, was born February 20, 1930 and died February 18, 2019. She is survived by her children Ann Heywood Angulo (Peter Angulo), Thomas Jared Heywood, Lisa Heywood Markel and Mark Eugene Heywood (Maggie Perezhey) and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her husband, Jared Yates Heywood, preceded her in death. Gloria was raised in Oakland, California by her mother Blanche Coulter Jacobs and father, Eugene Brown Jacobs. She was a great athlete and was further blessed with a keen mind and excellent sense of humor. After earning her Bachelor's Degree from San Francisco State, she faithfully served an LDS mission in the Spanish-American Mission when she turned 21 - where she became fluent in Spanish. While there, she and Jared met. After returning home at the completion of their respective missions, they were married for time and all eternity in the Mesa, Arizona temple on February 4, 1955. Over the years Gloria served faithfully in many callings in the LDS church-and regularly opened her home to many a successful dinner party. With a life-long love of the value of education, Gloria taught school in Oakland, California, Holbrook, Cibicue and Sacaton, Arizona and operated a successful reading training/tutoring business. With typical selflessness, she readily volunteered her time to tutor those who were struggling in reading. She was a licensed realtor and assisted Jared in building and managing a motel, duplexes, fourplexes, commercial buildings and several houses. She loved music and played the piano, ukulele, and banjo. She and Jared were inseparable in life. A devoted wife and mother, she was loved by all. Her children consider it an honor and a blessing to call her mother. Cemetery Details City of Mesa Cemetery 1212 N.
