Ignacio Morilla Rivera Jr.

Ignacio "Nacho" Rivera was born and raised in Mesa Arizona. Born October 16, 1947 and passed on April 29, 2026 at Dignity Mercy Hospital . He was 78 years old.

Graduated from Westwood High School in 1966. Was drafted into US Army in 1968 and went to Viet Nam. He received a Purple Heart and Bronze Star w/V. After Viet Nam, Nacho worked as a mason, delivery driver and tow truck driver.

One of Nacho's most endearing traits was his infectious laugh. He was also always available to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Was always sure to be on time, often early. He enjoyed bowling, cheering on his sports teams, Raiders, Suns and Diamondbacks. Loved going to live games. He enjoyed evenings with friends and seeing other veterans. He also enjoyed his church.

He is survived by his wife Peggy L Rivera and two sons Carlos & wife Yvette, and Shane. He had 4 grandchildren, Jared & Jessica Kraps and Anissa & Alyvia Rivera. In-laws Ed & Cynthia King, Mitch & Melinda King and Joanne King. Many, many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents Ygnacio & Rafela Rivera. Sisters Mary Ruelas Rodriguez and Delia Matus. Brothers Esteban Rivera and Ernesto Ruelas.

The viewing and rosary will be May 13, 2026 from 6p-8p at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N Macdonald Mesa, AZ 85201. A funeral mass will be held May 14th at St Timothy Catholic Church at 10 am located at 1330 W Guadalupe Rd Mesa AZ.
