MARIE M. LONG, of Mesa, Arizona, embarked on a well deserved journey to heaven, Friday the 13th of October, 2017, a date that would not have slipped past her keen sense of humor! Her time on Earth was drawn to a close by complications of Dementia/ Alzheimer's disease, after several years of dealing with this evil condition. Born April 6th, 1936 in Monroe, Georgia, she journeyed West to Mesa, AZ shortly after her Mother and stepfather did the same, in 1955. After a few years in banking, among other jobs, she landed employment in the Mesa Public Schools system. She logged over thirty years in this career path, the vast majority of which was at Carson Junior High School as the Counselors' Secretary. She earned a reputation of dedication, compassion, respect, humor, and yet a "don't mess with me" persona. She had a great, sometimes sarcastic, sense of humor. She was likely the #1 fan of the cartoon character "Maxine", and enjoyed being her own version of that endearing, yet grumpy and sarcastic personality. She is survived by her loving son, Michael J. Long, also of Mesa, AZ, and friends too numerous to count. Loved by all, she will be greatly missed! Cheers, Mom, I love you!
