Sherry Lynn Cutler Tuft

July 26, 1953 — October 26, 2021

Sherry Lynn Cutler Tuft, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away at age 68 on Oct 26, 2021 in Mesa, AZ. She was born in Hamilton, MT on July 26, 1953 and was adored as the only child of Virginia Lou Martin and Elger Lorenzo Cutler. Sherry grew up in Mesa and graduated from Westwood High School, where she was a member of the National Honor Society and lettered in volleyball. She was a proud Westwood Warrior and loved singing the fight song to her children who attended high schools in Gilbert. While attending BYU to pursue a degree in English with a minor in Spanish, Sherry met her eternal sweetheart, Sterling Fay Tuft of Murray, UT. They were married in the Mesa Arizona Temple on December 20, 1972. Sherry's life was devoted to serving her family, church and community. She thrived being around children, choosing to volunteer as the PTA President of Harris Elementary School and work for the Special Education Department at Gilbert High School. She also served many roles within her church's youth programs, and loved feeding the missionaries and working in the Gilbert Arizona Temple. As a firm believer in the democratic process, she worked many years as an election official for the City of Mesa and Maricopa County. Sherry was an expert seamstress and sewed all four of her daughters' wedding dresses, many blessing and baptism dresses for her grandchildren, as well as some intricate draperies for the Mesa Temple. She enjoyed antiquing, collecting turquoise jewelry, watching westerns and old movies, listening to beautiful music, cooking for others, and, most of all, being together with family. She is survived by her five children, Gini (Jason) Jacobson, Sara (Jeff) Singleton, Heber (Julie) Tuft, Shauna (Bowen) Evanson and Rachel (Nathaniel) Allen, her 25 grandchildren and three great grandchildren, with three more greats on the way. She took her role as grandma very seriously and was known to make the most delicious treats and beautiful birthday cakes for each one of her grandchildren. Her sweet spirit will be missed by all. Sherry lived a humble life with family at the center, and out of respect for her wishes, there will not be a public funeral, rather a private internment and celebration of life. Close friends wishing to honor her life may attend a visitation service with her family, November 1, 2021, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Meldrum Mortuary, 52 N. Macdonald, Mesa, AZ 85201.
