A Shining Example Of A Life Well Lived

Mary Ann "Sue" Dwyer-Kettenhofen, otherwise known as "Sweet Sue," went to heaven on February 19th at the age of 92. She enjoyed a long life, full of fun and adventure.

Originally from Illinois, she came by train to San Francisco with her mother and her sister when she was 13 years old, and she spent the rest of her life in California, primarily Lake Tahoe & Carmel. She was known for her laugh. It was loud & infections, and everyone who knew her found it easy to join in the fun once she started laughing. She enjoyed bowling, playing cards, needlepoint, and being of Czech descent, she was always up for an occasional polka. She loved to travel, and she always returned home with treasures.

At the age of 78, she reconnected with her high school boyfriend, and the time they were given before his passing was an epic love story. She made many friends throughout her life, but her best friend may have been her beloved dog, Ollie, who enjoyed daily walks with her in the Carmel Highlands. In 2021, she suffered a stroke which made communication difficult, but she could still smile and LAUGH! She always loved parties and entertaining, and even as her health declined, she still loved being around people & celebrating.

She raised three daughters - Linda, Karen & Beth. She also shared her life with many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great grandchildren who loved her and were loved by her. She will be missed by all.
