Anna Mae Wagner

Anna Mae Wagner passed away peacefully on August 2, 2025, at the age of 102 after five years living at the Burke Health & Rehabilitation Center in Burke, Virginia.

Born on June 24, 1923, in Hugo, Oklahoma, a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma, Anna Mae lived a life marked by grace, strength, and unwavering faith. She was the cherished wife of the late Ray Wagner, with whom she shared sixty years of marriage until his passing in October of 2000.

Anna Mae was a longtime resident of San Simeon, California.  A woman of deep spiritual conviction, she was a faithful and active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church contributing her time, heart, and presence serving as an usher and prayer circle leader to the congregation she loved.

Anna Mae is survived by her grandchildren: Elizabeth Macaranas (James) of Fairfax, Virginia; Matthew R. Wagner (Edith) of Millsboro, Delaware; and Aaron Wagner (MaryAnne) of Centennial, Colorado. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren: Samantha and Lora-Berkeley Macaranas of Virginia; Gavin Allen, Matthew C. Wagner, and Grace Wagner of Delaware; and Emma and Charlotte Wagner of Colorado.

She is also survived by her son, Leon Wagner (Barbara) of Cape May Courthouse, New Jersey, with whom she was estranged. In her later years, she was lovingly supported by her former daughter-in-law, Nancy Webb (Terrance) of Millsboro, Delaware, whose care and companionship meant a great deal.

Anna Mae was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; her parents, Christopher and Lennie Spring; and her siblings: Emmit Spring, Wilburn Spring, Cecil Spring, Arena Hosea, and Leta Hardcastle.

She will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
