Hazel Collier

Hazel Marie Collier of Eugene, Oregon passed away February 26, 2014 at the age of 82. She was born November 24, 1931 in Hermiston, Oregon to Wallace E. Jones and Ruth F. DesNoyer. She married Gaylord Lee Collier in Corvallis on August 31, 1951. Hazel attended both Oregon State University and University of Oregon, graduating from U of O with a bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate. She taught in Springfield at Maple and Yolanda elementary schools, retiring at age 58. She had a strong Christian faith and enjoyed family, friends, and gardening. Hazel is survived by a daughter Diane Kanewske and her husband Russell; a son Dan Collier and his wife Alice; 3 grandsons, Jason Collier, Dale Allen and his wife Allison, and Darrin Allen and fiancé Alicia Beebe; a granddaughter Nicole Collier; and 2 step-grandsons, Matthew Kanewske and his fiancé Krista Chambers and Colin Kanewske. A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 6th at 2:00pm at Lane Memorial Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Sacred Heart Hospice.
