Rigdon ShermanVIDA-LEABURG, OREGON — A celebration of life will be at 6 p.m. Friday, April 27, in the main gym at Thurston High School in Springfield for Rigdon J. Sherman of Vida and Leaburg, who died April 17 at age 14. The family chose not to list the cause of death.He was born Jan. 26, 1998, in Springfield to Larry Sherman and Kristen McGillvrey.He was an eighth grade student at Thurston Middle School.Survivors include his father, Larry Sherman and his partner, Kathy Ruede, of Leaburg; his mother, Kristen McGillvrey and her husband, Eric McGillvrey, of Vida.; grandparents Dennis and Linda Sherman, Bob and Karen McDonald and Leatrice McGillvrey, all of Springfield; great-grandparents Betty Bradley of Eugene and Jerome Silbernagel and Marion and Jim Veatch, all of Springfield; a brother, Branden McGillvrey of Vida; a sister, Lyndsay McGillvrey of Vida; a half-brother, Kaelon Buchwald of Springfield; a half-sister, Kristiana Johnson of Springfield; three stepbrothers, Jison Ruede and Bo Ruede, both of Leaburg, and Shayne Teague of Springfield; and a stepsister, Riane Ruede of Leaburg.Private burial will be held at Springfield Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Musgrove Family Mortuary in Eugene. Remembrances to Thurston High School Athletic Fund, Game Time University or to the Rigdon Sherman Memorial Fund at Oregon Community Credit Union.
