John Massey

John David Massey, 62, of Edgerton, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on Friday March 6, 2026.

John was born on June 28, 1963, in Madison, Wisconsin, to John “Jack” and Elizabeth “Betty” (Puls) Massey. He spent 23 years working for the State of Wisconsin as a maintenance mechanic, where he was known for his ability to fix just about anything.

John grew up on Lake Waubesa, and from a young age, loved everything about being on the water. He also lived a life filled with a wide variety of hobbies. He loved the thrill of race car driving and snowmobile racing, and he never passed up the chance to enjoy fireworks, a good rock concert, or a perfectly grilled steak. He had a passion for gardening and a quiet talent for drawing—though he would probably never have called himself an artist.

Among all the things he loved in life, his daughter, Haley, was the brightest star in his sky.

John will be remembered for the things that brought him joy and the small moments that now carry his memory. He will come to mind every time an Ozzy song plays, a hummingbird flies by, or a Seinfeld rerun is on.

He is survived by his daughter, Haley Massey; his step-children Susan (Dennis) Maly; Parkis Waterbury; their mom, Jenny Massey; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved Yorkie, Airee. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Steve Massey; his soulmate, Gina Betters; and many beloved pets who were the joy of his life over the years.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
