Mary Ellen Stetzner

February 20, 1929 — December 6, 2025

Mary Ellen Stetzner was born on February 20, 1929, to James C. and Leatha I. (Spillman) Sims.  She grew up in Pocatello, ID, the youngest of four children with her older brother and two older sisters.  During the depression, her family moved from Pocatello to Sparks, NV where she graduated from high school.  The family moved back to Pocatello shortly after that and Mary took a job as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell.  It was while working there that she met and married the love of her life, Donald K. Stetzner, who worked for AT&T.

She and Don were married on May 13, 1950.  They shared two daughters, Michele and Lydia.  When AT&T transferred Don in 1961, the family moved to Arvada, Colorado.  In 1995, Don and Mary moved to Greeley to be closer to family there.  Don and Mary were married nearly 65 years.

Having grown up during the depression, Mary learned to become as self-sufficient as possible.  She enjoyed making a beautiful home, reading, sewing, knitting, crocheting, counted cross stitch, quilting, fishing, traveling and lots and lots of golf.  She baked, and canned fruits and vegetables from her own garden.  She participated in numerous bible studies and treasured being a member of St. Mary Catholic church.  She loved God and her family and friends above everything else.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Michele Graham of Greeley, Colorado and Lydia (Jim) McInelly of Pocatello, Idaho, her grandchildren, Ashley (Scot) Cook, Meredith Graham, Jimmy McInelly, Elizabeth (Mike) Fehringer, Brian (McKel) McInelly, also great grandchildren Sullivan and Madeline McGarvey, Avery and Rylee Fehringer, Emma, Taelor, Addison, Ian, Bailey and Julia McInelly.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald, son-in-law Bob Graham, grandson Matthew McInelly, brother Jerry Sims, and sisters Elizabeth (James) Perkins and Inga (Louis) Gucker.

A rosary followed by a Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary Catholic Church at 10:30 am on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
