Belinda Ann Owen

May 7, 1953 — Dec 27, 2015

Belinda Ann Owen passed away peacefully with her husband, children, grandchildren and close family friends by her side. Belinda and her family were given the blessing of spending Christmas day together. A day on the calendar she had written as "family day." Belinda is survived by her husband of 43 years James Owen, their four children and their spouses. Jodie (Gary), La-Nyi (Relic), Lukas, Karen (Allen) and her father, Joseph. Belinda was born to Joseph & Consuelo Pedro on May 07, 1953 in Oakland, CA. Belinda was preceded in death by her mother several years prior. Belinda grew up in the areas of Oakland, San Leandro, Hayward and Fremont. Belinda enjoyed her child hood and teenage years participating in rainbow girls, swimming/high diving and riding horses at her uncles ranch. Once married, Belinda and James settled in Pittsburg, CA. Belinda worked many years at the YWCA helping children and cooking. Belindas passion for helping children carried on with raising her own children. Belinda participated in girl scouts, softball, soccer and church activities with her children. Later, Belinda and James relocated to Fremont, CA for education opportunities for their children and to be closer to her parents. Belinda resumed her work in the public schools. As her daughters grew and married, her and James returned to their family home in Pittsburg, CA. Belinda was very devoted to her family, friends and all those she would encounter. She was best known for her generosity, vibrant personality, strength, smile and cooking. She could feed a crowd at the drop of a hat and always made room for that one more friend or family member who would pop by. Belinda loved to travel. She loved going to the beach and having a bbq with her family. Belinda was a very devoted mother and loving grandmother to Takira, JW, Iyana, Christopher and Daniel. She adored each of them. Once her first grandchild was born, she instantly made their well being her goal in life. Belinda would spend time creating love packages for her grandchildren filled with chocolates, their favorite foods and send monthly cards to keep in touch. Every moment she spent with them was special. She would send text message and emails to her children daily to keep in touch. She was very involved in her childrens lives. Mommy will be missed and remembered by so many. She was a beautiful mother. Her love and devotion to us through out our lives is what made us all who we are today. She taught us what love is, to be proud of our heritage and who we are. Her strength and willingness to never give up through out her illnesses over these past years, taught us what never giving up truly is. Everyday was a blessed day with her. Today and everyday for the rest of our lives, she will be a part of us. Heavenly Father and mother Mary pray for us, keep us close and guide us. Give us strength for all that we will endure. Heavenly father I pray you hold her tight. As we will pray in thanks to you for making her body whole and healthy again.
