Dorothy Jean Gunter Resident of Walnut Creek Dorothy, 81, the widow of Eldon F. Gunter, died on April 22nd, 2012 due to advanced dementia. Dorothy, a former Licensed Practical Nurse at the Martinez Veteran's Administration Hospital, and a longtime member of the Walnut Creek 2nd Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, will be missed by all who loved and cherished her association. Dorothy passed away at Able Care in Concord, CA. where she spent the last few years of her life. Dorothy grew up in Portland, OR., the older of two daughters born to Charles and Bernice Anderson. Dorothy was a faithful member of her church where she exemplified true Christian values. Many were blessed by her tender and compassionate heart which shown most brightly through her service to her fellow congregants and her friends and patients at the Veteran's Hospital. Dorothy is survived by her five children, Laurie Moore, Bruce Gunter and Scott Gunter - all of Walnut Creek, CA., Marcia Stickler of Olympia, WA. and Douglas Gunter of West Point, UT. Her positive and loving personality will be deeply missed. Grandma Dot and Grammie, as she was known to her grandchildren, are deeply saddened by her passing. Dorothy is survived by 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. A service will be held for Dorothy Gunter at the Overlook chapel of the LDS church located at 2369 Overlook Drive, Walnut Creek, CA. on Wednesday, April 25th. The visitation will begin at 10:30 am and the service will begin at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Humanitarian Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at www.ldsfoundation.org.
