In Loving Memory of Cole Anthony Thompson

Cole Anthony Thompson, 21, a lifelong resident of Florida, passed away on January 14, 2025, at the Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, FL. He was born on September 26, 2003, in Winter Haven, FL, to Aaron Michael and Tina Marie Durgin Thompson. Cole graduated this year from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education.

Cole had an enduring passion for music. He loved listening to genres like jazz and playing his treasured trombone, a gift he received from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He also enjoyed teaching music to elementary school children, sharing his talent and enthusiasm with the next generation. Beyond music, Cole was an avid outdoorsman who delighted in hiking, camping, and canoeing. He also loved cooking, exploring new foods, and dining out with his beloved grandfather, Steve.

Known for his big heart and radiant personality, Cole was loving, funny, and outgoing. He was honest, straightforward, and humble, always reminding those around him to "be kind to one another." Cole's love for life was infectious, and he spoke highly of everyone he met. At the University of South Florida, he served as a Resident Advisor, a leader in his community who went above and beyond, ensuring no student went without a Thanksgiving dinner if they stayed on campus during the holiday. Cole was a strong, independent young man who faced life with resilience and grace, never seeking pity but instead inspiring others with his courage and generosity.

Cole leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Aaron and Tina Thompson of Lake Wales, FL; his sister, Keyra Thompson, also of Lake Wales; his partner of one year, Tony Ortega of Winter Haven, FL; his paternal grandmother, Kandi Thompson of Loughman, FL; his maternal grandparents, Steve and Linda Parrish of Winter Haven; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Cole will be remembered for his remarkable spirit, his love of music, and his deep kindness toward everyone he met. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Ridge Funeral Care in Haines City, FL. The family will receive friends beginning at 9:00 a.m.
