Tom Williams
Jun 3, 1950 — Dec 10, 2025
Thomas “Tom” Wayne Williams, a rough-and-tumble Florida rancher with a work ethic as steady as the sunrise, went home to be with the Lord early Wednesday morning, December 10, 2025. He was 75 years old.
Born June 3, 1950, in Atmore, Alabama, to Ora Inez Lisbena and Parmer Elvin Williams, Tom was one of nine children in the Williams family. Growing up in a big household helped forge the grit, humor, and stubborn determination that would define him for the rest of his life.
Tom spent his adult life in Winter Haven, Florida, where he worked his day job with the GTE Telephone Company. But anyone who knew him understood that his true passion wasn’t found behind a desk or on a schedule—it was out in the Florida heat, ranching cattle and tackling every sweaty, dirty, undesirable job that needed doing. If a task required toughness, elbow grease, or a man who wouldn’t quit, Tom was the one who got it done. Ranchers like Tom don’t retire—they just slow down long enough to light another Marlboro Light and study the angles.
Tom was a devoted father who loved coaching Amanda and Jeremy throughout their sports years. “Coach Williams,” soft pack of Marlboro Lights tucked in a shirt pocket, was known for his trademark combination of strategy, humor, and what he called “good Christian correction”—always delivered with love, purpose, and an eye toward building stronger kids.
His five grandchildren were the joy of his life—Matthew, Alaina, Noah, Maggie, and Hannah—and he spoiled each one beyond measure. Tom attended every game, match, race, and recital they ever had, continuing his time-honored tradition of offering enthusiastic “Christian corrections” from the sidelines to help sharpen their competitive edge. To be coached, encouraged, or lovingly hollered at by Tom was to be cherished.
Tom is survived by his loving wife, Yvonne; daughter, Amanda; son, Jeremy; daughter‑in‑law, Kim; his grandchildren Matthew, Alaina, Noah, Maggie, and Hannah; and numerous siblings who loved him dearly.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his name to Grace Way Community Church in Haines City.
