In Loving Memory

Jerry passed on February 9, 2026, at Moses Cone Hospital.

Jerry was preceded in death by his father (Shelly Long), mother (Edna Long), brothers (Allen Long, Tommy Long, and Charles Long), and sisters (Margaret Ritter and Elaine Long).

He is survived in life by Vada Long (his loving wife), Michael Long (brother), Joyce Smith (sister), David Long (brother), and Eddie Long (brother). His daughters - Shelly, Danyell (Travis-spouse), Amber (Jimmy-spouse), and Bridgette (Zak-spouse). Grandchildren - Jakub (Mollie - spouse), Rachel, Gaige, Hunter, Cannon, Kensley, Everlee, Lily, Madi, and Maisy. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was a very loving husband, father, Pepaw, and brother. He loved the Lord and followed God by serving as a Deacon and volunteering on the Securities Committee at Gospel Baptist Church. He loved to laugh and be silly. He never met a stranger and made friends wherever he went. He loved his family and friends with a great fierceness. Jerry was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He would give you the shirt off his back.

Go rest high on that mountain, Jerry. We will see you again one day. Love you always and forever.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Lakeview Memorial Park, 3600 N.O Henry Blvd, Greensboro, NC, with Pastor Dr. Harlie Miller officiating. Viewing will be on Thursday, February 12, 2026, from 6-8 (family will not be in attendance).
