Dennis Hughes Maness of Kernersville, NC, passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022. He was born February 24, 1947, to loving parents Shirley Hughes Maness and Dora Stephens Maness. Dennis was blessed with a wonderful childhood. He graduated from Sumner High School in 1966. From high school he served in the National Guard and then enlisted in the U.S. Army. Later, he attended GTCC community college and studied photography. Dennis resided at 1700 Lakemont Drive since 1987. He served several years as the Community Watch representative for his area. Dennis leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Donna Walker Maness. He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson, Steven Randall Landreth. He was an active member of the Lafayette Longrifles History Club for over 40 years and a member of the NRA. He had a small business called Lafayette Traders. Dennis was a member of the Old Farts Club who met every Thursday night for the past 40 years. He worked the Persimmon Festival for 10 years, serving hot biscuits which he was well noted for. Dennis led a very rewarding life. He was an avid reader, historian, marksman, photographer, and world traveler. He enjoyed quiet evenings on his deck with a glass of Jack and a cigar. Dennis loved his wife, his family, and his many friends. A memorial service celebrating his life will be held 11:00AM Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Muir’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Pastor Brenda Newman officiating.
