John Sidney Morgan
September 10, 1953 — April 14, 2026
In Loving Memory
John Sidney Morgan was called home by God on April 14, 2026, at the age of 72. He passed away at his home in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
A man who lived life on his own terms, John spent his career as a paint contractor and handyman. He was most at home as a “shade tree mechanic,” often found under the hood of his Jeep or helping friends and
family with car repairs. He was known for his ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and his willingness to tackle hands-on projects—always in his own unique way.
Though his path through life was often unconventional, John loved his role as “the pastor’s wife”. He assisted behind the scenes at their churches preparing and running audio-visuals, making repairs, and various other church programs, lending his skills wherever they were needed.
John was an avid sports fan who closely followed NASCAR and NFL, especially his Washington Commanders, always keeping up with the latest stats. Rarely seen without his headphones, he found enjoyment in music, movies, and television.
He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Rev. Caren Bigelow Morgan; his children, Candy Stokes (Brian), John Robert Morgan (Shannon), and Amber Dawn Morgan; and his stepdaughter Anna Bigelow; eleven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends who knew him through his professional life, his church involvement and his community activities. John is preceded in death by his parents, Bela and Margaret Morgan, his beloved sister Kay Williams, his daughter, Tammy Kay Morgan, and former spouses Nita Keeter and Susan Morgan.
