Lucy Morris Needham
May 24, 1939 — October 29, 2022
Lucy Morris Needham, born May 24, 1939 of Kernersville, NC, went home to be with her Saviour on October 29, 2022. She was surrounded by her family whom she loved deeply as she transitioned to her Heavenly home.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Joseph E. Needham. Lucy is also survived by her two children; Kent Needham and wife Liz Needham of Kernersville, NC, and Barry Needham and wife Rita Needham of Germanton, NC; five grandchildren, Austin Needham (Kristin), Ashley Gatewood (Jonathan), Daniel Needham, Brandon Needham (Ashlyn), and Tyler Needham; two great grandchildren; Braxton and Solomon and one brother, Bob Morris, of Walkertown. Lucy was known for her spirited personality and spunk – not much could keep her down.
In 2005, Lucy was diagnosed with a cancer that had a small survival rate. She told the doctors she had 5 reasons to live and those five reasons were her grandchildren whom she loved fiercely and wanted to see grow up. Lucy fought a tough battle with Jesus as her strength, and won! For years after her cancer victory she loved spoiling and spending time with her grandsons and enjoyed shopping trips with her granddaughter.
She is already greatly missed by her surviving loved ones. They await the day they will be reunited with her in Heaven.
A funeral service celebrating her life will be held 2:00PM Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at the Pierce-Jefferson Kernersville Chapel with Rev. Frank Shumate and Austin Needham officiating. The family will greet friends between 1:00PM - 2:00PM prior to the service. Interment will follow after the service at Gardens of Memory in Walkertown.
